3 days is enough time for you to take a gorilla safari holiday in either Uganda or Rwanda. The following itineraries will offer a visitor a choice to pick from whether gorilla tracking in Uganda or choose Rwanda for a gorilla safari. The difference is in pricing of these two different packages..

Gorilla tracking in Uganda 3 days

Gorilla tracking will be done in south-western Uganda where you find bwindi impenetrable forest which is home to the largest population of mountain gorillas throughtout the world. You will meet one of the gorilla families that live in under the rule of male Silverback gorilla.

Day 1 Transfer to Kisoro

Your 3 day Uganda gorilla tracking safari begins in Kampala or Entebbe very early in the morning when your drive catches up with you at you lodging. Briefing you on the journey times and activites extra to the gorilla tracking enroute. The drive is beautiful with occassional stops as your progress towards Bwindi forest reserve home to the mountain gorillas. You will have lunch midway the journey and the early evening will find you in Kisoro spending the night at Travelers resort in Kisoro. .

Day 2 Uganda gorilla tracking starts at 7:15am

After an early breakfast take a drive to Park Headquarters and meet with excellent local guides and trackers who will give a talk on the life and ways of gorilla trekking. We then hike into the forest where the gorillas were seen the night before and track from that point. The trekking can take from 1 to 6 hours and climb to altitudes in excess of 7,500 feet. The gorilla tracking terrain is rough and at times muddy. Although the hike is physically demanding the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trekking worthwhile. Once the gorillas are located all fatigue is forgotten, as the experience is often described as being the most profound natural history experience in the world. Picnic lunches are provided and it is important to take plenty of water. Cameras and plenty of fast speed film are recommended. It can rain at a few minutes notice; hence waterproof clothing is a good essential including zip lock bags for cameras and film. All trackers are expected back at the point of start by 7pm.

Day 3 Drive back to Kampala or fly back to Entebbe 

After breakfast we start our drive back to Kampala. We will stop in Mbarara for Lunch and then continue, after Masaka town we will stop at the Equator for Tea/Coffee break and buying souvenirs. We will bring you back to Hotel of your choice or address in Kampala for overnight. If you are continuing your journey somewhere else or back home, we will bring you to the airport for check in after refreshing from an arranged hotel.

Day 1 Arrival Kigali Airport

On arrival for your 3 day gorilla tracking safari in Rwanda, you will be met at Kigali airport by our Driver/guide who will then drive you through Kigali town north to Volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri, a home to 360 Mountain Gorillas. You will have dinner and overnight stay at Gorillas view Hotel (Luxury) La Palme Hotel (Deluxe) Muhabura Hotel (Budget).

Day 2 Rwanda Gorilla tracking day safari

In the morning the day of gorilla tracking we will transfer you to Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing by the park warden. Guests are accordingly allocated their specific gorilla groups for tracking in respect to their physical abilities. At 8:00 am local time all tourists will transfer to various starting points for gorilla trekking. Normally it takes 1 to 6 hours to encounter the mountain gorillas as they keep moving from one point to another. Upon spotting them, you are free to stay in their presence taking photographs and imitating their calls. Then return to the point where your vehicle is stationed so as to transfer you to the next available programme.

Spend part of your evening at Ib’iwachu Cultural Village. Transfer to Lake Kivu and stay an overnight on Lake Kivu one of the deepest albertine lakes of East Africa. Enjoy views of Nyiragongo Volcanoes in DR Congo.

Day 3 Return to Kigali airport

After breakfast transfer back to Kigali. Your tour guide may take you around the city – visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site and the local handicrafts market, then proceed to the airport for your departure flight.
