3 days Queen Elizabeth national park safari

3 days, 2 nights

Queen Elizabeth national park stretches from south-western Uganda towards the west. Covering an area of 764 square miles (1,978 square km) hilly plains to the east of lake Edward towards the foothills south of the Rwenzori Mountains. The park gets its name after Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.

Day by day itinerary

Most people that visit Uganda for various reason will have a thought of taking a traditional big five Africa safari to one of national parks. My own family from Ireland where my wife comes from, when they visited Uganda for the first time desired to take a safari, my proposal was a 3 days Murchison falls national park safari. My wife and I chose to recommend Murchison falls national park to our irish family for reasons that are unique to Murchison falls national park.

Reasons to visit Queen Elizabeth national park
This park was designated in 1952 by the colonial government. The park’s fame comes from its wildlife including animals such as cape buffaloes, hippopotamuses, elephants, leopards, lions warthogs and chimpanzees. With 95 species of mammals and some 500 bird species not including migrant birds. The southern section of the park is famous for lions best known as tree climbing lions.

Your day starts early with breakfast at your Hotel, then a guide/driver will meet up with you at your hotel where he will provide some briefing and you set off at 7:30am for Queen Elizabeth National Park to take your 3 days queen Elizabeth national park safari. The drive is occasionally scenic with beautiful yet different country side settings. Depending on where you hail from, everything might appear disorganized since it is a matter of perspective. A lunch break is taken in Mbarara town for about 1hour or so.
After our lunch get back on the road through small farms of banana plantations, cattle and then emerge to tea plantations at Igara in Ishaka, then through Kalinzu Forest Reserve and finally to a great view point of Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Kyambura Gorge(escarpment.) We check you into your lodge and prepare for a night game drive. If we are lucky then we might spot some hunting action.
