Queen Elizabeth game reserve stretches from south-western Uganda towards the west. Covering an area of 764 square miles (1,978 square km) hilly plains to the east of lake Edward towards the foothills south of the Rwenzori Mountains. The park gets its name after Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. This park was designated in 1952 by the colonial government. The park’s fame comes from its wildlife including animals such as cape buffaloes, hippopotamuses, elephants, leopards, lions warthogs and chimpanzees. With 95 species of mammals and some 500 bird species not including migrant birds. The southern section of the park is famous for lions best known as tree climbing lions.


The 3 days safari itinerary to Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda.

Day 1, Travel to Queen Elizabeth national park by road

Your day starts early with breakfast at your Hotel, then a guide/driver will meet up with you at your hotel where he will provide some briefing and you set off at 7:30am for Queen Elizabeth National Park to take your 3-days safari to queen Elizabeth game reserve. The drive is occasionally scenic with beautiful yet different country side settings. Depending on where you hail from, everything might appear disorganized since it is a matter of perspective. A lunch break is taken in Mbarara town for about 1hour or so.
After our lunch get back on the road through small farms of banana plantations, cattle and then emerge to tea plantations at Igara in Ishaka, then through Kalinzu Forest Reserve and finally to a great view point of Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Kyambura Gorge(escarpment.) We check you into your lodge and prepare for a night game drive. If we are lucky then we might spot some hunting action.

Day 2, Morning Game drive and afternoon Boat ride on the Kazinga Channel

Game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park including a launch trip of about two hours on the Kazinga Channel to view some of the largest concentration of hippo in the world {reported to be about 30,000} and other game with excellent birding. 3 safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park reaches its climax  as one of best birding parks in Africa, with 560 + recorded species and a record of 296 bird species seen in one 24 hour period.

Day 3, Game drive after which we drive back to Kampala/Entebbe International Airport.

This morning we have an early morning game drive before heading back to Entebbe, this takes approximately 7 hours – road and weather conditions will dictate. If time permits it is possible to stop in Kampala for shopping and lunch and a visit to the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers. You are then transferred to Entebbe International airport to connect with your departure flight.
Please note the departure flight must be in the late afternoon or evening, alternatively we can arrange another overnight in Entebbe.
