Good morning, how did you sleep? How was your breakfast?
Your guide will brighten up your day before you start your road trip to Murchison Falls National Park. This is Uganda's largest national park and one of the most exciting places to visit. This is one of the most impressive Uganda safari journeys any traveller to Uganda will attest to. Your first stop will be at Wobulenzi where your guide will buy some fresh pineapples that you will enjoy in the coming days. Another stop at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, where your group will be taken on an open savannah woodland excursion to see southern white Rhinoceros. A briefing talks to follow during the excursion will be given. The time allowance is about 1 hour with the Rhinoceros observing them either grazing or resting.

Start spotting wild animals such as olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, Abyssinian ground hornbill, and sometimes the shy bushbuck.

The rush of being so close to the most powerful falls in Africa will take. You will witness for yourself what words can’t possibly explain. You must experience this and try to put it in words. The river flowing at 100meters is reduced to flowing through 7meters and dropping down about 45meters, so all the volume of water has to squeeze through a narrow crevice. Wait you will see!

The common birds are the Abyssinian ground hornbill, secretary bird, yellow-mantled widow, Piac Piac, and Denham’s bustard. Lions and leopards are on the list of animals to look out for today. We return for lunch at the iconic Sarova para lodge where lunch is served from 12hr30. The African Queen takes tourists for a 3hr boat safari to the bottom of the Murchison falls. The popular guided walking trail through the Bigodi wetland sanctuary, better for general primate viewing and certainly one of the finest birding trails in the country.

With chimpanzee habituation as the best option for guaranteeing 100% chimpanzee encounters. We ask our guests who would prefer this option to let us know in advance so we can try to secure a spot for them.

You should see elephants, buffalo, waterbuck, Uganda Kob, and large numbers of the hippopotamus. Research shows that the Kazinga channel has got a large concentration of hippopotami in the world. The water birds are plentiful along the channel, particularly pelicans, which flock on the sandbanks. The common species include black-headed gonolek, a member of the shrike family with a dazzling red chest – and look closely, as the localized papyrus gonolek, similar in appearance but with a yellow crown.

After the boat ride, clients will head back to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 8 Chimpanzee tracking Kyambura Gorge Queen Elizabeth national park
Bonjour, today after breakfast we head to Kyambura gorge to track the chimpanzee that lives here. This gorge is 16kms long, and 100m deep it forms the border between Queen Elizabeth national park and the Kyambura wildlife reserve. Kyambura gorge is home to chimpanzees but also to red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus, giant forest hogs, and many different bird species. The chimps here are reasonably well habituated to people, and the confined nature of the gorge means that they are easier to locate than in some other reserves – there are no guarantees, but you would be unlucky to do this trek and not see chimps.

We will then transfer to Ishasha sector the remote section of Queen Elizabeth national park. Ishasha is famous for its unusual lions that climb trees, they have been named tree-climbing lions because they climb large fig trees. Hot lunch at the lodge before we head to the Ishasha sector.
